"To
Missoula Buddy Walk Committee... We would like to express our thanks
for the financial and moral support... It has meant more than we can
describe in words... Thank you so very much."
- Delanie's family
There are more than 190 Buddy
Walks nation wide with over 180,000 participants connected with the
National Down Syndrome Awareness month each October. This year's
Missoula Buddy Walk will mark our fourth annual event totaling over
1,200 outstanding participants in Missoula, Montana!
The purpose of Buddy Walk is to
raise acceptance and awareness of individuals with Down Syndrome on
a community level and among their peers. Our vision is that all
individuals with Down Syndrome be welcomed and included with
fairness, enthusiasm and encouragement in their own communities and
to support and help to educate families regarding Down Syndrome.
Please visit our About Down Syndrome page to
learn more.
Funds raised by Missoula Buddy
Walk have been used to assist families with Down Syndrome in our
area who have critical medical financial emergencies or on going
medical financial burden. Your meaningful involvement supports these
families to ensure that all individuals with Down Syndrome have an
opportunity to reach their full potential.
Thanks to our generous Buddy Walk
Sponsors, the Missoula Buddy Walk has been able to reach out to ten families in our area who experienced a critical medical
financial emergency. While 30% of funds raised at the Missoula Buddy
Walk are sent on to the National Down Syndrome Society for
education, research and advocacy, the remainder of our funds stay
right here in Montana, assisting individuals with Down Syndrome in
their area of greatest need.
